BOOK BINDING WORKSHOP with LOUIS LIM
21 AUGUST 2019, 1-4pm
GEORGE TOWN, PENANG
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Join photographer and book-maker Louis Lim in exploring different ideas on making books and learn a trick or two in hand binding techniques. The workshop will first bring you through a discussion on various possibilities in artist book making and consider the complexity of design and looking at the book as a sculptural object that allows layers to unfold through the viewing process. This will follow by a hands-on session in learning two basic bookbinding techniques – pamphlet binding and kettle stitch binding, with the bonus addition of taking home your self-made visual diary. These bookbinding skills will allow you to create your own handmade books in the future.
